Jim Compton-Schmidt
New to 90.7 KFSR, Jim Compton-Schmidt plays two hours of the American song book on a program called, “Jazz Then to Now.” The focus is on the writers of that song book and the “covers” of their music. Traveling through the music of Irving Berlin & W.C. Handy through Duke Ellington & Johnny Mercer into the music of Jobim & T. Monk and beyond. Jim has been on the radio doing this labor of love since 1979 at a small college station in Kansas (KHCC) to another small college station in Indiana (WGCS) and here in Fresno at two stations KFRF and KFCF.
